My Tanka Today

A major typhoon, a violent wind and a torrential rain

are expected tonight

But now how quiet here

in the Sunday morning

It is good once in a while

to spend time without PCs

Listening to crystal tones of music CDs

at night when the harvest moon is invisible

At midnight

soaking in the hot spring bath

listening to insects singing

The sun

throws a happy glow after rain

over the field carpeted with autumn flowers

Impressive Words of American Novelist Richard Powers

”When I lived in cities, I wrote out of a tremendous work ethic. I felt if I were to be a serious writer, I needed to produce 1,000 words a day. When I didn’t, I was tremendously anxious. But since coming down here (Great Smoky Mountains National Park), and committing myself to communication with the plant world, I’ve been much more comfortable in letting an hour or two or more go by in a reverie state.”

-Richard Powers(LITERARY HUB April 23, 2018)

☆Very nice!

☆Once I went up to Tokyo attracted by the idea of city life. But now I love living quietly in the country.

☆”committing myself to communication with the plant world” ? Good! I would like to recommend you composing haiku poetry, Mr. Powers.
