☆ ベルリン・フィルを率いて来日した際のブラームス第1番の生の感動を忘れることはありません（1992年、ザ・シンフォニーホールにて。ピアニスト・アルフレッド・ブレンデルとの共演にも震えました。）。

I am so sad to hear the news just now that Italian conductor Claudio Abbado has passed away.

Italian conductor Claudio Abbado, former musical director of La Scala, has died at the age of 80.

He died in Bologna after a long illness, said Raffaella Grimaudo, spokeswoman for the Bologna mayor's office.

Abbado, who was appointed senator for life in Italy last year, had cancelled several recent performances and appearances due to ill health.

He also conducted the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) between 1979 and 1988.

He won plaudits for his LSO concerts of his favourite composer, Gustav Mahler.

He was also musical director of Vienna's Staatsoper from 1986 to 1991 and a guest conductor at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

In 1989, Abbado was elected head of the Berlin Philharmonic by its members, where he worked until 2002.

"The death of Claudio Abbado leaves a huge hole in the world of classical music," said Radio 3 controller Roger Wright, describing him as "one of the most important conductors of his generation".

He praised his "gentle manner, combined with a steely determination only to offer high quality music making, which delivered so many remarkable performances and recordings."

Mark Wilkinson, president of record label Deutsche Grammophon, said: "The world has lost one of the most inspiring musicians of our era, a man who put himself entirely at the service of the music he conducted and, in doing so, made listeners feel that they were hearing it properly for the very first time."

Abbado made his first recording for Deutsche Grammophon in 1967, and his last in 2013.

勝ったチームが負けたチームの選手を慰めに行くことはあるかと思いますが、竹澤選手は、「同点の時点で」、相手チームの森下選手に、「まだ延長がある。切り替えろ。」と声をかけたと報じられています。

[1.13 全国高校選手権決勝 富山一3-2(延長)星稜 国立]

　試合終了後、星稜(石川)のゴール前で頭を抱えてピッチにうずくまるDF森下洋平(3年)のもとに歩み寄る富山一(富山)の選手の姿があった。石川県出身で、中学時代は県トレセンでも森下とチームメイトだったDF竹澤昂樹(3年)。高校進学後も休日には家で一緒に遊んだりする親友同士は大会に入ってからも「LINE」で連絡を取り合っていた。


　皮肉な運命だった。星稜の右SB森下と富山一の左SB竹澤は同サイドでマッチアップ。星稜が2-0とリードし、試合は終盤へ。ところが富山一も後半42分に1点を返し、猛攻に出た。そして迎えた後半アディショナルタイム、スルーパスに反応した竹澤がPA内に切れ込んだところで森下のスライディングタックルが足にかかった。PK献上。2-2の同点に追いつかれ、試合は延長戦に突入した。


「ずっと押し込まれていて、足に来ていた。あそこで細かいドリブルをされて苦しかった」。PKを与えてしまったシーンをそう振り返った森下は失点のショックからなかなか立ち直ることができなかった。河崎護監督は「延長に入る前、森下が涙ぐんでいたのでみんなが『切り替えろ』と話していた」と明かす。延長戦のキックオフ直前、エンドを入れ替える際に竹澤とすれ違うと、「まだ延長があるから切り替えろ」と声をかけられた。


「相手チームなのにそう言ってもらって、自分で何とか取り返したい思いがあった」。延長前半3分には自陣からの長いFKのこぼれ球に森下が反応し、体を投げ出した。「どうにか入ってほしかった」というヘディングシュートは、しかし枠を外れる。結局、再び勝ち越すことはできず、延長後半9分に逆転ゴールを決められた。

　星稜初の準優勝。それでも「正直、悔いが残る大会だった。最後、自分が防いでいれば終わった試合だった」と唇をかむ。「日本一しか見てなかった。自分のワンプレーですべてをつぶしてしまったことが申し訳ない」。真っ赤に腫らした目で自責の念に駆られた。


　冒頭のシーン。森下は竹澤から「同じ石川県、同じ地区の出身で、こうやって2人で国立の決勝を戦って、優勝も準優勝も関係なく、すごいことだろ。胸を張って帰ろう」と励まされたのだという。「ありがとうという言葉しかなかった」。最後の国立で全力を尽くして戦い合った。首にかけられたメダルの色は違っても、2人に残る永遠の思い出には変わらない価値があるはずだ。

というもので、尊敬の念を抑えることができません。

Honda speaks about his ambitions with Milan

Japanese soccer player Keisuke Honda has told an audience of journalists that playing for AC Milan is a dream come true.

The star midfielder signed a 3-and-a-half-year contract with the team on Wednesday.

More than 100 reporters gathered at a news conference at the team's San Siro Stadium. AC Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani also attended.

An illustration of Honda's Number 10 and his silhouette was screened. A video described how he dreamed of wearing Milan's Number 10 shirt since he was at elementary school.

Honda said he is happy his dream has come true. He said he wants to play just behind the striker, the same position he occupies with Japan's national squad.

He said he is determined to score goals and assists to fulfill the high expectations placed in him.

Honda is expected to make his Italian debut in a league game on Sunday. AC Milan is in Italy's Serie A top league.
