「世界は味わわれるためにある

   何もかもすてて
   机もすて 原稿用紙もすて つみあげた本もすてて
   何ももたず
   ポケットに手をつっこんで  
   世界を 空気を 垂れこめる空を
   遠くに並ぶ木立を
   列車に乗りあわす老人や若い女を
   味わうためにだけ
   旅に出よう                                                                 」

Japanese novelist Kunio Tsuji once wrote down in his Paris diary as follows:

"The world exists to be appreciated.

  Well, -

  I' ll take a train from the Gare Saint-Lazare station.

  Throwing all away;

  throwing away my desk, writing paper, and books piled up,

  without having anything,

  shoving my hands in my pockets,

  the world, air, and the screen trees in the distance,

  the old people and young women on the same train.

  I' ll go on a trip only to appreciate them."
