霜まよふ空にしをれし雁がねの
帰るつばさに春雨ぞ降る
藤原定家
The winter frost in the sky
shriveled the wings of wild geese
But now the spring drizzle
is falling gently on them returning north

☆英訳は管理人の私訳です。更新する場合があります。
☆この「霜」については、現実に即し「秋の霜」、または「秋から冬にかけての霜」と解する説があります。
☆しかし、ここでは、定家のエクリチュールとして「春雨」とのコントラストを強く出している、と解したいという観点から「冬の霜」と解する説を採用します。
☆また、「霜まよふ」の解釈には諸説ありますが、「地面に降りた霜」と解する説は、定家の幻想的空間把握に到達し得る解釈とは思われず、原歌の文言にも即していないものであり、採用できない、ということでいいのだろうと思います。
☆いずれにせよ定家自身が後世の人に、いろいろ「まよふ」ことでしょう、と楽しんでいるかのようです。
☆「つばさに春雨」が表現として新鮮。定家さんの優しい想いもここに溢れています。

The other day, the Bank of Japan decided to adopt negative interest rate policy, which was unprecedented.
They say the decision is aimed at achieving the government's two percent inflation target.
I can't say now it's good or bad. Economists are predicting many changes.
Anyway, the domestic and international economic situation in the future will be carefully watched.

Responding to an interview, Japanese translator Motoyuki Shibata once said the following:
"While working on translation, I don't use a PC. It is much more comfortable for me to write in longhand in a notebook than using a PC. I don't have a cellar phone either. I don't need it because I don't have many friends."

While browsing an English dictionary
I happened to encounter the following sentence:
"The name Chanel became a byword for elegance."
☆Wow, Chanel appeared in the dictionary. I'm not brand-conscious at all, but I recently gain deeper interest in her way of life. I love following her words:
