影ひたす水さえ色ぞ緑なる
                 四方(よも)の木づゑのおなじ若葉に

All the branches of the trees in all directions 

have begun putting out lush foliage  

That’s why even the water of the pond

reflecting their shadows 

can be seen in fresh green
