Impressive Scenery This Season

ターナーの絵を観てきて

The other day, I viewed an art exhibit at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art with my family.  The exhibit included paintings by British painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) .
 
I saw his real life for the first time and was impressed with his way of drawing light. I understood that his way had had a great influence on the French Impressionists. 
 
Turner is also known to have appeared in the writings of Japanese novelist Soseki Natsume.

It was raining that day, but when we left the museum, the sun shone through a gap between the clouds. Wow, I felt like we were just in the world of Turner.
