Yoshiro Mori announced his resignation as president of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee on Friday, finally succumbing to an onslaught of criticism triggered by sexist comments he made earlier this month.
The 83-year-old former prime minister stepped down seven years after being appointed president of the organizing body by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
☆ In addition, Mori is also criticized that he should not be able to choose his own replacement. I’m of the same opinion on this matter. His speech and behavior are incompatible with the spirit of the Olympic Charter.
