Shuichi Kato, a literary critic, wrote down about the writing style of Kyoka Izumi, a Japanese novelist, in his book A HISTORY OF JAPANESE LITERATURE as follows: 

“He realized one of the best possibilities that the Japanese lyrical and pictorial prose could reach in sounds, delicate nuances, and tension by his writing style based on the style of the novels in the Tokugawa (Edo) period.”
