On the Latest News about the Meijin Tournament for Shogi
Challenger Amahiko Sato, a eighth-degree player, beat Meijin Yoshiharu Habu and won the Meijin title. Wow!
I was very surprised at Sato's offensive tactics in this tournament. He was previously well-known to his defensive strategy. What made him change?

"The expression has no satisfactory English equivalent."
☆Yeah, I come up against such problem almost everyday. Oxford Collocation dictionay also says:
"an expression that is difficult to translate into English."
☆Okay, I suppose there are a lot of people who share the same problem in the world, so it won't bother me so much.

"Every dictionary is already out of date at the time of its publication."
☆I love reading dictionaries. So am I also out of date? Hmm...Certainly, I don't know almost all the teenage stars nowadays. I haven't recently watched TV programs in the first place. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Impressive Words
Japanese novelist Kunio Tsuji once wrote down in his Paris diary as follows:
"It was half past nine in the morning. The sky was dazzling blue. The sunlight made the whole surface of the building shine. The concrete wall facing the court got wet. The air was cold. I bought a newspaper on the main street of Montparnasse and got on a bus from Port-Royal-des-Champs Abbey. The rays of the sun was already strong. The air in the shade was cold and humid. I went to the office of the Sorbonne. The sunlight was spilling in the depths of the grove of Luxembourg Park where there was no sign of life."

Hakyo Ishida

My Memory through a Dictionary
"To bring ping-pong balls back to like that have been dented, just place them in hot water for 15-20 minutes."
☆This sentence reminded me of my elementary school days when we enjoyed playing ping-pong in the noon recesses, after school hours, and even during between-classes recesses. We sometimes stepped on the balls by accident and dented them. When that happened, our seniors said such words as cited above. A nostalgic memory.
